The "Rodeo" of Zahínos hopes to be recognised as Festival of Regional Tourist Interest
The "Rodeo Zahínos" festival hopes to be declared of Regional Tourist Interest
The dehesa "El Coto" in this Badajoz town will be the venue for this festival, where it will be possible to see horses, mules and donkeys. This is a cross-border event that attracts numerous local and Portuguese dealers who come to the pasture with their livestock, especially saddle horses, mules and donkeys, with the aim of "exchanging their animals with old-style deals".
It is a livestock event with a hundred years of tradition that has become international and hopes to be declared of Regional Tourist Interest. "Rodeo Zahínos" inaugurates the fairs and festivals of the municipality in honour of the Cristo de la Expiración, establishing itself as an "essential element" in the history of the town.
Between 2,000 and 3,000 people usually meet at "El Coto", after the official opening of the "Rodeo", to attend the start of the trade fair with leather, craft and gastronomy stands, to taste a popular stew, to enjoy folk dances and various children's activities.
