Arroyo de Sancho circular route (18 km)

Zahínos, 06129, Badajoz

It is a circular route that starts and ends in Carretera de Valencia street (next to La Encina street) in Zahínos.

It is a eminently plain route. However, there are several hills in the second part of the route. It crosses the Sancho stream twice, which gives name to the route. It does not have bridges nor fords, which is important to take into account, since the first river walkway can be very fast-flowing and you need to ford it barefoot.
There are several coal and charcoal local factories along its walk. You can also see some remainders of the unfinished railway construction. It was going to connect Portugal and Spain, but it was stopped at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
Animals that can be seen: goats, sheeps, dogs, horses, donkeys, cows, hens, turtledoves, doves, blackbirds, starlings, sparrows...
Duration: 4 h. 15 min.
