It is a circular route that starts and ends in Zahínos-Higuera de Vargas through road, close to Castro Fuerte street in Zahínos.
It is a eminently plain route, where there may be some difficulties such as walking through some abandoned paths. Some of these paths are blocked by foliages, sticks, big gates, sheets..., in order to keep the grass for the cattle. Another problem is that the hermitage, which gets its name from the Zamoreja property, is located in private lands that are fenced and closed.
The Hermitage of Zamoreja is the oldest in Zahínos. It has an unknown origin, and it is thought to have been inhabited by friars of the San Francisco order. It must have been surrounded by an area of cultivation, which partly remains due to the water in the area. It is a small hermitage with a convex dome, which is surprinsingly made up of red bricks, which may be a sign of Arab origin.
There are a lot of domestic animals in this route: donkeys, mules, horses, sheeps, goats, pigs, hens, doves, turkeys, dogs...
There are plenty of holm oaks throughout the route, but you can also see cork oaks, olive trees, fig trees and more. They are mostly found near the hermitage, in areas with small pens (many of them used for growing vegetables).
We suggest not to plan this route for the raining season, as the second walkway of the Godolid stream has no bridge and you may not be able to cross it.
